Some weddings make you feel like you’ve stepped into another world, and Audrey and Sam’s celebration at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library was exactly that. Imagine the rustic charm of an après-ski lodge, the softness of an early spring woodland, and the elegance of a modern garden party, all seamlessly wrapped into one show-stopping celebration.
“Pick Your Peak & Take Your Seat”
The couple’s love for the mountains was front and center, starting with their epic escort display: a massive board that read “Pick Your Peak & Take Your Seat,” featuring hundreds of mountain-inspired name cards arranged like a layered ridgeline. Soft greens, earthy neutrals, and subtle gold accents set a whimsical tone, accented by blooming yellow forsythia and branches of white blossoms at the base — a playful nod to their venue’s lush surroundings.
Alpine Lounge Meets Garden Chic
The tented cocktail hour space felt like a high-end ski lodge dropped into the middle of a garden. Guests could lounge in a cozy seating area styled with a forest-green velvet sofa, leather and mid-century chairs, and warm candles flickering on wood and iron tables. But the real showstopper? A vintage red ski gondola, repurposed as a playful photo backdrop and lounge element. Flanked by wooden skis and après décor, it was the perfect collision of fun and nostalgia.
Après Ski, but Make it Sweet
Later in the evening, guests were treated to the Après Ski Ice Cream Sundae Cart — complete with a handwritten menu under a white umbrella. The “Snowboarder Bride” sundae (a nod to Audrey) was a crowd favorite, made with brownie chunks, whipped cream, and the perfect scoop of late-night joy. It was charming, unexpected, and SO Audrey and Sam.
Mountain Vibes with a Botanical Touch
Each reception table was named after a beloved ski mountain, like Breckenridge, with trail map-style table numbers and wild, airy floral arrangements. Delicate yellows, whites, and greens filled the space, blending organically with the natural setting of Winterthur. The linens were clean and crisp, the florals slightly undone in that perfectly effortless way, and candlelight brought warmth to every corner of the room.
A Cake Worthy of the Rockies
Their two-tiered wedding cake was a literal piece of art — frosted in smooth white icing with hand-painted golden mountain peaks and pine trees wrapping each layer. It was earthy, romantic, and completely custom to the couple’s theme. Nestled among candlelight and fresh greenery, it stole the spotlight.
Details That Made It Personal
From the monogrammed menus with alpine illustrations to each guest’s place card nestled into a folded napkin with a sprig of yellow forsythia, the attention to detail was immaculate. Even the custom round green bar was styled to perfection with a towering wild floral arrangement as the centerpiece, a beautiful balance of wilderness and refinement.
An Enchanted Evening Under the Lights
As evening fell, string lights glowed beneath the clear-top tent, reflecting off the wooded backdrop in shimmering hues. The vibe was romantic and cozy, like being tucked away in a winter cabin, but with the energy of a spring garden in full bloom. Guests mingled, danced, and toasted the newlyweds late into the night.
Audrey & Sam, your wedding was the perfect blend of style and story, where love met adventure, and every detail told us more about who you are together. A celebration this creative, heartfelt, and joyful is one we’ll never forget.
